The random art made by nature

9 years ago I came across the chance result of a leaf, some pinewood, a storm and silt.

A leaf had been trapped under some off-cast wood and, in a storm, silt had formed around it leaving a perfect impression of it.

I gathered up the wood and carefully transported it home so that I could cut around the leaf and frame it as artwork.

It hangs on our wall today, with the silt slowly slipping- a living piece of art moving grain by grain, in the hour-glass of time.
